Teaser Trailer for Oliver Stone’s ‘W.’ Should moviegoers boycott the film?

Josh Brolin's portrayal of George W. Bush in W.

This is the teaser trailer for Oliver Stone’s upcoming film ‘W.’ George ‘Dubya’ Bush should be proud such a critically acclaimed director such as Oliver Stone chose to chronicle his life and career.

Here is an interesting opinion. Someone suggests that we should not spend a dollar on a movie about G.W. What do you think? Does Oliver Stone and Lionsgate Fims deserve to profit from George Bush’s life story? Would NOT going to the theater make a bigger statement about G.W. than seeing the movie in mass numbers? Do you plan on seeing it in the theaters? I’m curious to see how he is portrayed but from the looks of the trailer it is pretty obvious.

The lack of respect for authority of any sort is what has caused the downfall of America. People don’t respect police, teachers, elected officials, or senior citizens, who have carved out America in this century. There are lots more that go in this list. This lack of respect, sentiment of entitlement, and learned helplessness is the real underlying reason for most of the big problems in our country, and worldwide too. It’s not just here. To create a movie that is insulting of the President while he is still in office, no matter who the President is, further shows the utter lack of respect of the people in America, and illustrates to the rest of the world that we don’t care about dignity, or theirs, either.
It is sickening to what extent the greed of money has reached. Democracy depends on respect. It would definitely be more impactful for people to refuse to give money to such a scummy piece of material. Oliver Stone can go pout in his office, he’s not getting my money.

You make interesting points that I think a lot of Americans can relate to. I agree there is most certainly a lack of respect for authority that has grown over time. At the same time I think respect is a 2 way street and lets face it people of authority have undoubtedly abused their power at times. Greed not only exists in the hearts and minds of pedestrians but in politicians as well.

As far as a film of this nature being released while the president still sits in office, I agree – it is as far as I know a first and a bold move on Oliver Stone’s part. No doubt it shows the level of animosity that people have towards George Bush that is obviously the statement Oliver Stone is trying to make.

Thanks for weighing in on this topic. I think from whatever side of the fence you are on there could be justification to boycott this film or reason to see the film. Putting my own feelings aside, I respect how anyone might feel about this subject, politics and their beliefs in general as long as them doing so does not impede on my freedom to have my own opinions and beliefs.

Part of me wants to see it, part of me tells me it’s wrong. I do think that for whatever reason, whether people boycott the film as a statement of their animosity towards Bush and that it’s not worth it to spend money on anything relating to him, or that the level of disrespect towards the president is sickening, I think that if the movie was boycotted on a mass scale it would make a bigger statement than the movie itself.

Life story?? since when does this kind of BS and bias garbage constitute a biography of any persons life?
Oliver Stone is a sick man along with the rest the liberal community. No person should pay money to profit people of no character or morals like those that made this film.
And I agree this shows the degradation of our society and the respect we once held for authority and more so the office of President. Like GW or not why would anyone approve of this kind of disrespectful bogus attack on the President of our nation while he is in office?? The liberals have made our country a laughing stock not the President or anyone else and it started with Bill Clinton and progressed to the hatred they hold for one man and had it before he took office and for one reason only because he had the guts to stand up and be real about his faith in God and do what he thought waa right which right or wrong should be admired. liberals are pitiful hypocrites and poor excuses for human beings in my opinion….
